Drawing

Drawing is one of the earliest forms of human expression, predating the written word.

Traditional drawing is the art of making lines and areas of tone onto paper/other material, usually using ink, graphite, chalk, charcoal, pastels or crayon. Drawing instruments include pencils, pens, brushes, erasers, markers, styluses and metals (such as silverpoint).

Forming the basis of every artistic practice, drawing enables us to see, describe and remember through the act itself. Drawing records our responses to everyday and informs our world, whether sketching from life, designing architecture or illustrating comic books…
